Carly Fiorina is a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from California. She is perhaps best known as the former chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HP), where she became the first, and to date, the only woman to lead a Fortune 20 company. During her tenure, from 1999 to 2005, HP′s revenues doubled from $44 billion to $88 billion. Her career has also included more than 20 years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies, where she led the largest-of-its-time IPO of Lucent and became president of its largest business. Fiorina chairs the Technology Policy Institute, is a global envoy for Lance Armstrong′s Livestrong organization and serves as vice chair of the Initiative for Global Development. She is a trustee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received a master′s of science in business. In addition, she holds a bachelor′s degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland.
