Gary Shilling

President, A. Gary Shilling & Co.

Gary Shilling, a registered investment advisor, is President of A. Gary Shilling & Company Inc., an economic consulting firm that also publishes Insight, a monthly report of economic forecasts and investment strategy. The author of several books (and an avid beekeeper), Shilling has been a Forbes magazine columnist since 1983 and appears regularly on radio and television business shows. Institutional Investor magazine has twice ranked him as Wall Street's top economist. He has served on the staffs of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Bank of America. Before establishing his own firm in 1978, Shilling was senior vice president and chief economist of White, Weld & Co. Earlier he set up the Economics Department at Merrill Lynch at age 29, and served as the firm's first chief economist. He received a bachelor's degree from Amherst College and a master's degree and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
