President, The Scowcroft Group, Inc.; former U.S. National Security Advisor
Brent Scowcroft is President of The Scowcroft Group Inc. and a former National Security Advisor in the Ford and first Bush administrations. A retired Air Force lieutenant general, he is also president of The Forum for International Policy, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization providing independent analyses of major foreign policy issues. Previously Scowcroft was vice chairman of Kissinger Associates. He has held numerous government positions, including deputy assistant to the president for national security affairs in the Nixon White House. In the military, Scowcroft served in the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and at the Headquarters of the Air Force. He was on the faculty at the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy at West Point. He also was assistant air attache in the American Embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Scowcroft served as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations-sponsored Independent Task Force on U.S. Nuclear Weapons Policy. He received his undergraduate degree from West Point and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
