YooRi Kim is senior associate at the Center for Strategic Philanthropy. Her primary focus is on medical research philanthropy, where she provides individual philanthropists and foundations with comprehensive and objective information related to the state of research for various diseases and key unmet needs impeding scientific progress. This information is ultimately used to identify key philanthropic opportunities poised to have a transformative impact on the state of research, with the aim of moving the field forward faster.
Prior to the Institute, Kim worked on various programs at the Virginia Biotechnology Association for the development and support of the state’s biotechnology industry. As a member of a pharmaceutical startup, she focused on research and development activities for its flagship product through early stage clinical trials. Kim graduated from University of Virginia in 2010 with a B.Sc. in biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. She received a M.Sc. in physiology and biophysics from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. Kim is also Assistant Managing Editor of the Journal of Commercial Biotechnology. Kim works at the Institute's Washington office.
