Jayne Van Hoen is executive director of events at the Milken Institute. She has more than 20 years’ experience in business, program and relationship development, gained in global media, publishing, public relations, events and social media organizations.
For 14 years she held senior management roles within media organizations, building and leading cross-platform businesses and managing projects and teams, often from start-up level.
Jayne joined the Financial Times Conferences team in 2005 as head of editorial and was appointed managing director, FT Conferences, in 2006. During the nine years Jayne ran FT Conferences she built the business from a team of eight, running a handful of UK events, to a 70-plus member global operation delivering 220 events in 55 countries. Jayne established new operations in the US and Asia, overseeing the creation of a single integrated events business for the FT. Reporting to the FT board, she was a long-standing member of the FT’s senior management group. In this capacity she contributed to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the FT.
From 2002 to 2005, she ran her own consultancy business advising clients in business model implementation and strategy, brand enhancement and recognition, media outreach, content generation and social media. Before this Jayne was head of conferences and communications at Hemscott, head of publishing and brand marketing for River Publishing, head of business development for Thomson IFR and sales manager at Haymarket publications.
She holds a History Degree from the University of Warwick is a British national. She currently lives in California with her husband and two children.
