Donald Markwardt
Research Analyst


Donald Markwardt is a research analyst at the Milken Institute. He studies the interactions among financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and government policies. Markwardt's recent work has focused on emerging market economies, financial market structure and development, and innovations in capital access for underbanked individuals.

He is co-author of the Milken Institute research reports "Where Banks Are Few, Payday Lenders Thrive" and "Mind the Gaps: Closing Income and Educational Disparities in California," among others. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from California State University, Northridge.
